Field note: pick one, then actually use it

A single notebook and pen on an empty desk by a studio window

After two weeks of writing about tools, here is the honest summary. The best project management tool is the one your whole team opens every single day.

Not the one with the best features, the best reviews or the slickest demo. The one that survives contact with a busy Tuesday.

So pick one, set it up properly, agree the rules for how work moves through it, and give it ninety days before you judge it. Most tool failures are commitment failures.

And if the tool is pen and paper, like the solopreneur I met recently, that counts too. A system you actually use beats software you merely pay for.
